Joining the direct Training Contract route means you’ll be applying to start a Hong Kong Training Contract in September 2028.
The training contract is structured as four seats, each lasting six months, giving trainees the chance to rotate across key practice areas including Global Financial Markets, Corporate, and Litigation & Dispute Resolution. Trainees use a preference-based system to indicate preferred groups and may access secondment opportunities (recent examples include London, Perth, and Tokyo).
From day one, you’ll receive strong support from partners, lawyers, supervisors, mentors, trainee peers, and the Graduate Recruitment team, with an emphasis on high-quality training and supervision throughout the programme.
If your online application is successful, the assessment process includes a video interview, an assessment centre, and a panel interview.
You will need to demonstrate ambition, drive, commitment, strong interpersonal skills, and commercial awareness, and meet the following requirements:

A consistently strong academic record

Mandarin or a Chinese dialect (reading/writing Chinese preferred)

A law or combined degree from a university in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or England that enables you to start a Hong Kong training contract after completing the PCLL

Non-law graduates with the GDL/CPE are also welcome
